Site Listing Types

This sections explains the four types of listing that you will see presented in the NoMoz Directory. You will see different buttons under each listing according to the listing types explained below. Click the link to see where and how each type of listing looks like.

  • Featured Listing - Locked
A featured Locked listing is a listing that has been paid for and secured by the link owner. It is featured which makes the listing display on the top part of the page, and also is complimented by a thumb shot of the website. This listing can not be removed by a competitor and will always be listed unless the website goes offline for over 2 months, or the Link owner elects to remove it. This listing will always be available for editing and updating by its owner.
  • Featured Listing - Unlocked
A featured unlocked listing is a listing that has been marked as an editor Pick by Dmoz Editors. This listing has not yet been secured by its link owner. So it is available to be deleted or replaced by anyone. This listing will still be featured until it is secured/locked by its link owner, or removed by a new competitor.
  • Regular Listing - locked
A (Regular Locked) listing is a listing that has been paid for and secured by the link owner. This listing can not be removed by a competitor and will always be listed unless the website goes offline for over 2 months, or the Link owner elects to remove it. This listing will always be available for editing and updating by its owner. It can also be upgraded at anytime to a Featured listing.
  • Regular Listing - Unlocked
This represent the great majority of the listings in the directory. Links listed as Regular unlocked will be the most affected by link removal and replacements. This represent the links in their original state as we imported them form the Dmoz Database. Our main aim is to replace all those links or lock them (locking: is a process that allows the link owners to secure and update their own listing to reflect current state of their websites). Anyone can replace them with their own link, anyone can delete them. Their owners can lock them, or lock and upgrade them to a Featured listing. Once they are locked, they can not be removed.
